Artist Bio + |
I've been an artist since I first picked up a pencil at the age of 3, but it wasn't until the age of 5 that I firmly resolved to be an artist when I grew up. Through the years, the human figure has been my biggest inspiration, and sculpture is my medium of choice when representing it. I graduated with a BFA in Fine Arts in 2004 and discovered polymer clay a year later. I quickly became hooked as I realized the amazing potential this medium had to offer for someone so obsessed with detail and realism. In 2007 I began my own small art business called Amanda Klish Originals, through which I make and sell my polymer clay figures and small food jewelry. In September 2010, I achieved a certificate as a Master Doll Maker by the Jack Johnston Academy in Las Vegas, NV, and the food art jewelry I sell in my ETSY shop has been bought and enjoyed by customers throughout the US, and as far away as England, Germany, and Austria. I recently moved to the capital region and am very excited to share my work with the many art lovers and artists Albany is home to. I am amazed and inspired by the role art plays in this region, the many people who come out to the 1st Friday events, and by the UAG and its array of wonderful artists I'm enjoying getting to know. To learn more of my process, see in-progress work, or to learn what I'm currently working on, become a fan of my artist page on Facebook under Amanda Klish Originals. I recently attended the first 1st Friday event of the year, January 7. It was a bit of a blizzard out, so turnout seemed to have suffered compared to last month. But I had a good time, saw lots of great work, and am working on a submission for next month's show "Cupidity"!

December 3rd was my first 1st Friday event in Albany since moving here. It was so exciting, so overwhelming to see SO many people who love and appreciate art! I've never been a part of something so big and hope to participate in many more events in the months to come. Thank you to the UAG for giving me an amazing venue for my work, and to all the lovely people I spoke with, you made my night!
