Artist Bio + |
Hello. I'm Amelia. I am originally from Vermont, but I have lived in upstate New York most of my life.
I had painted in the early years of my life, but it was never anything I took seriously. Then, I took an art history class and through learning about other artists, I discovered that I was an artist. I learned that art was one thing that no one else could control and that it was completely personal. I could create whatever I wanted, however I wanted to do it. I started painting and I haven't stopped. I have a studio at my house in Albany, and my happiest times are when I get a rush of ideas and can retreat to my studio to realize them. I'm a painter, some of my art is abstract, some isn't. I think I am still finding my style. My favorite artist is Matisse. I find that I take some cues from him in my art. Whether it be patterns, or dark outlines around objects and figures.
I am going to SUNY Albany right now for art and I hope to work in a museum and teach elementary school art.
