Originally from upstate New York, I fell in love with the natural beauty of the New England landscape when I moved to the Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts in 2003. That is where my journey began as a watercolorist and mixed media painter. Having just moved back to Albany in late June of last year, (2015), I am reconnecting with all the scenic beauty surrounding me here. Nature is a huge inspiration for me - the hill towns, the deep forests, wildflower paths, mountain lakes and river rocks.
As I paint, I find myself fascinated by the interplay of pigment with water, exploring light and shadow and of letting the paintings teach me something new each time I put brush to paper. Sometimes I start a mixed media piece with a watercolor under-painting. At times I collage other paintings into my work. The evolution of each painting is an adventure in and of itself. Painting has become my looking glass and the way I examine my world - inside and out. I believe in art as alchemy and the power of art to transform our communities, to create pathways that connect people and communicate what words alone aren't able to do.
My work has been featured in solo and group shows in galleries and some non-traditional settings in the Northeast - especially in the Berkshires. Paintings hang in private collections here and abroad.
