Artist Bio +

John Weiler John Weiler, originally from New Jersey, is among the founding board members of the Upstate Artists Guild and served one term as Gallery Manager, largely in order to facilitate our Lark St. Gallery improvements when we first rented the space. This was an undertaking which would never have been completed without the hard work and dedication of Jesse Pilger, Scott Pernika and Lorenz Worden as well as many UAG volunteers unafraid of a lot of hard work and even more mouse poop.

John is a musician and songwriter, a painter and works with found objects and Duchampian Ready-mades.? He has little formal art education having stopped at the Community College level, but he reads, listens to other artists and looks at a lot of art. At the end of the day, however, it is less about Art with a capitol "A" and more about the very basic human joy and pleasure of working, self-forgetting and finding you've made something that feels right and maybe someone might actually like.

John frequently works collaboratively with fellow founding/board member Christa Dijstelbergen under the name crasis d:zyne creating installations and environments for area art shows and events.

For more on crasis d:zyne, please see Christa Dijstelbergen's page.
